Under Border, change the Background Mask property to False. Specify points in a sequence that defines the perimeter of the area to be masked. You can also enter p and click an existing polyline to use. The polyline must be closed, contain line segments only, and have zero width. Press Enter to end the command. When you enter a transparent command within a running command that accepts more than one point location for example, the AutoCAD LINE command , you can enter a series of points in the same format without having to re-enter the transparent command.

The Message window is displayed. How are you applying the background mask? It does not interfere with the dimension line here. Message 3 of After creating the dimension I select it, go to the properties dialog box, the first option under "Text" is Fill color. I set this to "background".
On the attachment you can see on the 10' and 20' dims how the background splits the dim line and cuts out part of the arrowhead. I can take care of the dim line by increasing the text offset a little, but I don't want to offset the text as far as required to get it out of the arrowheads.
Preview file. Message 4 of Try setting the fill colour to NONE. This results in no background box. Regards Brad wrote in message news discussion. Message 5 of I'm trying to blank out everything behind the dim text, which it is doing just fine by using "background". The problem is that the size of the area being blanked out is too large. I was hoping there was a setting somewhere which would allow me to bring the boundary closer to the edges of the text.
I can't find that setting if there is one. Eric Black. Message 6 of Your text offset dimension is too small perhaps? See screenshot, the "test" dim. Message 7 of I hope my info was useful, but if by some odd chance it actually solved your issue, feel free to mark your post as "Accept as Solution".
